I ordered the 2021 C8 coupe Z51, front lift in Red mist and museum delivery 6/30/2020. On August 4th 2020 my local dealer had his GM CONFERENCE CALL and again GM says it intends to build all 20,181 MY2020 cars. Corvettes are easy to sell.
I ordered mine on 7/20/19, 36 hours after the internet unveiling. I’ve got mine ordered all I can do is wait. It’s a shame that the dealers are not understanding the true mission of a “halo car” like the Vette — it’s supposed to be a way for dealers to attract customers and build relationships . I ordered August 18, 2019 and was push back to a 21. Very upset with the way Chevrolet has handled the entire situation. Only 6800 cars done so far. The car will be a year older and , if delivered, it will be the mid of winter.
GM is not going to be specific as to the details as MFGs do not give that info out. Does anyone have information that Mr. Leno either received or has on order, a C8? And yes I agree with others here that GM should do something for the torment that they put there buyers through. For those who 2020 model was reset for 2021 and if there is a good price increase on the MSRP without additional cost for the existing order, that is a bit of an compensation.
Honestly, I wish at this point, I was one of them getting a 2021 because of the wireless Apple CarPlay. That’s 8 months. If anyone with inside information has an inkling if Jay is ever going to want a C8, even a Zora, that would be a rather large reveal here on GM Authority. Then, in March, the COVID-19 pandemic once again forced the Bowling Green Assembly plant to close, with supplier issues causing further issues since production resumed in May.
Felt like sharing: One of my managers just informed me that he has looked in the GM production/ordering system to see who has orders in across Canada. OK, C8R, easy for you to say, you’re not waiting for one!
I ask the dealer if he would hold the 2020 price and I was told if I didn’t buy it somebody else will. It would be nice if that were true! But this information is definitely good news.

The 2020 Corvette is the current model rolling off the line, but now, GM Authority has learned the date for the Start of Regular Production (SORP) for the 2021 Corvette. The 2021 Corvette brings several small updates and changes to the nameplate, including the addition of two new exterior paint options, namely Red Mist Tintcoat and Silver Flare Metallic, as well as the deletion of Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat and Blade Silver Metallic from the C8 exterior paint options list. So no you do not deserve a discount. IF I had know that certain colors weren’t available I would have ordered another color (but why advertise a color when you know it’s not available. Going forward, production of the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette has been pushed back from mid-November to early December. Instead neither the concierge or the salesman knows any thing you are left on limbo.
