The Black Knights perseverance weapon art can be used tactically to trade against pretty much all everything slower than a great sword if your opponent is attack spamming. It will kill most of them in short order if they don't toggle escape. After players have finally defeated the Pontiff Sulyvahn, some would either use up his Soul due to the sheer annoyance and frustration of the fight or transpose it with 3000 souls to acquire the Profaned Greatsword, which is a fantastic weapon for both PVP and PVE.

It’s alright for strength/caster builds, but there are much better options.

Players can further increase its use with a Refined infusion for quality builds. This is essentially a stronger version of the Moonlight Greatsword and a good weapon to use for caster/strength builds. Pretty comparable to the Zweihander. This is another weapon that has seen iterations in every title in the series and has remained as one of the most unique swords of its class. Nevertheless, it is a great weapon that works well with strength builds and quality builds alike.
