These engines are inspected for integrity and function and have 10-50k miles on them. So, again, why do I like this horrible thing? For whatever reason, I can afford to replace the engine but just want to know what the cost will be. There was also a later recall of Echos produced in 2001 and 2002 because of a problem with snow building up in the rear tire and damaging the brake line.
