It will definitely be seeing some time in the bag this season. The toe is keen to open on the way back and close through impact. All that aside, there is one putter that is always, and I mean always, on the classic putter list.
Nicklaus won in 1967 at Baltusrol with a Bulls Eye painted white that he borrowed from Beman and dubbed “White Fang.” Pavin used a Bullseye in his early career, but in the 1990s gave the flange a boost, winning the 1995 U.S. Open with a Cleveland Classic. They have captured the elements that made it classic, and at the same time infused the putter with modern methods and materials.
The flange of the 8802 is round and symmetrical, and the neck provides 1/2 shaft of offset. But. The smoothness and stability of my club while making a putt is really close to the legend. I dunno, but I like what they are doing. The Anser style remains the most copied in all of golf. I have an 8802 remake and would still buy the new 8802 but it would probably be a “wall hanger”!!! This putter looks a lot like the George Lowe I had back in the ’70’s. This putter also provides feedback on a level most golfers have never felt. The 8802’s deep toe hang puts it into the strong arc category.
It’s nice they salute a classic. Would not surprised to see the new one in Crenshaw’s bag — of course it would be cut to 34 and a 1/4 inches. In short, the terms of my first post really do seem to fit this remake. He wouldn’t be the last person who tried to take the 8802 home with him. Wonderful feel. The flange of the 8802 is round and symmetrical, and the neck provides 1/2 shaft of offset. The original Camry looks nothing like the 2019 model.

There is no harsh feel. The Lamkin grip is a bit thinner than modern grips, closer in size to that found on the classic 8802. Miller Barber, who used an Otey Crisman with a hickory shaft, always looked nervous on the greens. Have they truly replicated that shaft or simply jammed in a standard TT from today and called it one?
I’d prefer either a colored top line dot or groove that shows the sweet spot. There is some serious inertia in that cavity-less head.
