Does anyone have any experience using 700X powder with 158 Grain Lead Semi-Wadcutters to load 38 special? This endangers your safety, as well as that of others around you.

Doubt I'm the first guy to think of it, but with unique I put my vibra prime against the powder hopper for a minute or two and get throws +/- .1.

The Hodgdon website does have data for 700X with 158 Gr LSWC, and I've found a number of forum posts where people have had pretty good results with it.

5.5 grains puts you into 357 mag territory. HS-700X produces some very accurate loads with lead bullets in 38 Special and 45 ACP.

Originally the intent was solely for a discussion forum, but it quickly developed into an extremely informative blog-based site, incorporating firearms news, reviews, and events. I just tested out two loads: gun: rossi 92 .357 magnum 16" rifle.

It will work but you will not be able to get as much velocity as you would with a slower powder. 700-X in .38 spl I use 2.8 gr. My Smith 586 and Model 36 both run 105gr .357 lead really well. In my Dillon measure, I use the aquarium pump trick and can get +/- 0.1gn drops. I've only used 700X because its what I could find.

I have the Lyman powder measure, and it's tough to get consistent a measure with the 700x (I currently use it for 9mm).

I prefer it to Bullseye since 700-X fills about 20% more by volume which is better in a case with so much empty space.

What are you using as a powder measure?

Hornady FOR SALE! I have 6# of it, every store in town has it in stock. My Lyman manual has 700X listed for lighter jacketed bullets, but not for 158 grain.

In my Uniflow measure, it works best with the baffle.
